The Calgary Project: A City Map in Verse and Visual
Frontenac House presents this anthology in collaboration with the RE:act Collective and House of Blue Skies. Dymphny Dronyk and Kris Demeanor are the co-editors of the work. Together we have created a legacy collection that marks a year like no other.
The Calgary Project documents a vibrant and diverse snapshot of the city’s visual and literary arts, while celebrating the 2-year term of our inaugural Poet Laureate, Kris Demeanor.
The selections include work by nationally (and internationally) prominent poets such as Sheri-D Wilson, Christian Bök, Micheline Maylor, Fred Wah, Anne Burke, and Tom Wayman, and artists such as Jeff de Boer, George Webber, Mandi Stobo and Tina Martel, as well as pieces by newer and younger writers and artists. Mayor Nenshi has a poem in the book as well.
In keeping with House of Blue Skies’ two previous bestselling Alberta poetry anthologies, much of the poetry, spoken word, and visual art submitted to the Calgary Project has been featured on blueskiespoetry.com.
Additionally, the work by, and for, youth 18 and under, will soon be also be showcased on youngalbertawriters.com, along with downloadable lesson plans, where it will be used in Calgary schools and other literacy outreach initiatives.
