Finalist: CBC Literary Award for Poetry // Feb 2009

Frontenac poet Kevin Irie was a finalist in the prestigious CBC Literary awards for his poem “Viewing Tom Thomson (A Minority Report)”. Kevin has published two books with Frontenac House, Dinner at Madonna’s and Angle Blood: The Tess Poems. He was shortlisted for the City of Toronto Book Award ( Colour of Eden ), and the Relit Awards ( Angel Blood ). He won first prize in Rice Paper’s 2000 literary competition for his poem “Tashme”.

Frontenac House is delighted to announce that Ron Wood author of And God Created Manyberries is one of the five finalists for the Stephen Leacock Memorial Medal and the T.D. Financial Group $10,000 prize.
Winner: Howard O’Hagan Award for Short Fiction // Oct 2007
Frontenac poet Leslie Greentree recently captured the Howard O’Hagan Award for Short Fiction for her first short story collection, A Minor Planet for You and Other Stories (University of Alberta Press). Presented at the Writers Guild of Alberta Gala in Grande Prairie the Alberta Literary Awards recognize and celebrate the highest standards of literary excellence from Alberta authors. Leslie’s second book of poetry with Frontenac, go-go dancing for Elvis, was s hortlisted for the prestigious Griffin Prize.
Lieutenant Governor’s Award // Oct 2007
We are delighted to announce that Frontenac author Trudy Cowan was honoured in September by the Alberta Museums Association with their Lieutenant Governor’s Award “for exceptional contribution to Alberta’s museum community and achievements at a provincial, national and international level.” The award was presented by His Honour Norman Kwong, Lieutenant Governor of Alberta, patron of the Association, and the Honourable Hector Goudreau, Minister of Tourism, Recreation, Parks & Culture.
