Joyce Harries
Joyce has mostly lived in Edmonton since the year of her birth in 1928. Married in 1948, she turned twenty on her honeymoon with Hu Harries.
In 1996 she began writing creatively at a senior’s centre. Joyce is a member of The Writers Union of Canada, professional member of Canadian Authors Association, the Writers Guild of Alberta, full member of the League of Canadian Poets and of the Edmonton Stroll of Poets’ Society. She is a past member of the collective editorial board of Other Voices. She has participated in the CAA WISP for three years. She has given presentations about starting a new career late in life and about what it was like growing up in Edmonton in the thirties and forties, to service clubs, book clubs, seniors’ centres and schools. As a mother of six and grandmother of seventeen, she has many wise observations in her two books.
