About Frontenac House
Who are we?
A dynamic Calgary-based literary press that publishes poetry, aviation history, political satire and fine art books. Since we launched in 2000 we have published 62 titles. Our mandate is to publish as wide a range of literary expression, from as varied and diverse a group of writers, as possible. This mandate includes creating a readership in every part of the cultural spectrum that we can, and providing literary works for groups and communities that may not have thought of their own lives or work as being subject matter for literature.

Brief History
Frontenac House made its debut as a poetry press in 2001 with the publication of its first four poetry books, Quartet 2001. The Quartets have become an annual event; Quartet books and poets have won or been nominated for many of the major poetry prizes in the country, including the Stephansson, the Trillium and the Griffin. In 2007 we started to diversify our repertoire with the publication of aviation history, political satire and art books. Our first satire, And God Created Manyberries by Ron Wood, was shortlisted for the Stephen Leacock Medal for Humour
Dektet 2010
The year 2010 marks the 10th anniversary of Frontenac House and the Quartet poetry series. To celebrate, Frontenac will simultaneously publish 10 poetry books in April – Dektet 2010.Titles were chosen by a jury of leading Canadian poets: bill bissett, George Elliott Clarke, and Alice Major, using a blind selection process. We will launch the books in Edmonton (April 27), Calgary (April 29) and Toronto (September TBA).
